Description

LBN 437 is a bright nebula commonly called the Lizard or the Gecko, both of which it closely resembles.  Dolphin would also work.

In addition it contains LBN 428 (emission nebula). LBN 428 is also cataloged as Sharpless 126. These two nebulae overlap each other. The smoky, dusty colored nebula is LBN 437 and the red emission nebula is LBN 428 / Sharpless 126. In addition to these nebulae, there are several noticeable background galaxies at distances estimated by redshift at up to 783 million light years distant from Earth. LBN 437 also has the variable star V0375 Lac and an associated reflection nebula GN 22.32.5. V0375 Lac  is a Herbig Ae/Be star - there is a distance reference in Simbad of  about 2,870 light years; other distance estimates are shorter - down to 1,960 light years . Sharpless 126 is estimated  at about 1,700 light years distant from Earth.
